On March 21, the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s Class of 2025 gathered with family and friends at the Armstrong Medical Education Building for Match Day. The mood was joyous as students opened their letters revealing where they were heading for residency training.
The celebration included remarks by faculty and Marcelina Kubica, the representative for the Class of 2025. “No matter where these envelopes take each of us, remember to uphold the sacred role that it is to be a physician and use that to make all feel welcome and cared for in the communities we serve,” Kubicka said to her classmates, before they all opened their envelopes.
Some 100% of Johns Hopkins students matched to residency programs, in 15 states (plus Washington, D.C.), with 32% matching at Johns Hopkins.
Other popular institutions included UC San Francisco, Stanford, Weill Cornell and Harvard’s
Mass General. The top specialties were internal medicine (18), anesthesiology (9), general surgery (8), and Gyn/Ob (8).
